Ayurveda is a system of medicine and disease prevention originating in ancient India. The Ayurvedic approach places much emphasis on restoring and maintaining health by utilising a variety of measures tailored according to one's individual elemental constitution. Maintaining the harmonious balance of these elements is considered to be the key to good health and disease prevention.
Prakruti refers to our unique, individual elemental constitution, known as dosha, which is made up of a combination of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. Doshas are responsible for the substance and function of the body and mind on a biological, psychological and physio-pathological level.Every individual has a unique combination of these three doshas. The Sanskrit word dosha actually means fault or disease-causing factor, and Vikriti refers to the state of an aggravated dosha (disharmony) which is considered to be the root of disease.
Kapha is predominated by the elements Earth and Water. It is the cohesive force in matter; it contains, nourishes, supports and provides stability of physical and emotional nature. Pitta is predominated by the elements Fire and Water. It is the light of the external world, the senses and the mind, enabling vision, warmth, digestion and transformation on both levels of body and mind. Vata is predominated by the elements Air and Ether. It stimulates into motion and imparts energy, life, movement and expression.
Discover your prakruti – your elemental constitution – and understand what it means. Find out how you may be out of balance (vikriti), and how the Ayurvedic method can make a positive change in your life.

Although the dosha prakruti (physical elemental constitution) of a person remains constant during one's life, we do have the power to transform our guna nature. This plan will allow you to personalise your yoga practice according to your dosha in order to achieve balance.
Following a dosha-analysis, we undertake a one-on-one discussion assesses your guna, (physical, mental and spiritual nature) in order to have a clearer understanding of where you are in your personal evolution towards your greatest potential. This is an opportunity to discover what steps you can take to make the transformations you wish to see in yourself.
